Who I am ?
Paquito Bernard, PhD
- Researcher, Research Institute of Health, Environment and Work,
French Institute of Health and Medical Research, Rennes, France - Chair Exposome and chronic diseases
My scientific expertise include the analysis of individual and structural determinants of health behavior change (sleep, physical activity, substance use), the examination of association between health behaviors and mental health, and the investigation of climate change characteristics (e.g., extreme weather events, air pollution) effects on these major outcomes. I have an extensive experience with the ecological momentary assessments (self-reported or passive), behavior change intervention development and assessment, meta-analysis methods.
My current research activity is based on the model of climatic risk for health developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It presents the emergence of risk from interactions between specific types of climatic hazards, the exposure and vulnerability to those hazards, and the responses taken within the health sector and by communities.
In the face of climate change, the adoption of health behaviors has never been more important. The exposome concept allows the consideration of complex and multiple exposures, their short- and long-term associations. These behaviors can limit exposure to climate risks, promote better adaptation, but also (in)directly reduce the carbon footprint of individuals and the healthcare system. Indeed, climate change is increasing pressure on healthcare systems, which must also reorganize themselves to reduce their carbon footprint (6% of global emissions in France). In this context, the adoption of healthy behaviours, and identification of multiple and compounded individual and environmental determinants that make adults with chronic diseases vulnerable, will make them more resilient in the face of climate events, reduce their exposure and improve their quality of life. Indirectly, this should alleviate pressure on healthcare systems, via less intense symptoms and lower hospitalization rates among adults with chronic illness.
Hello paquito mon long message précédent vient juste de disparaître!!!!

I enjoy assembling useful info, this post has got me even more info!
Hey, just looking around some blogs, seems a pretty great platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my sites but looking to change a single of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
